You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
—John15:14
DISCUSSION:
In the Old Testament, God said through Moses, tell the people they've got two choices. Do you want to be blessed, or do you want to be cursed? Are you going to obey or disobey? If you adhere to what I command you this day, then these benefits will be given to you. Luke 11:28 says, But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” That means there was a command given. Romans 5:19 says, “Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.”
Through the disobedience of Adam, sin entered into the human race. We see the evidence of that today with people who are living in sin and disobedience, but since Jesus obeyed God, many became righteous. Through Jesus’ obedience, we have right standing with God. We all want to be friends with Jesus, and it’s not just because we read our Bible and pray; it’s because a manifestation has occurred through your relationship with Him. Your relationship goes a step further into friendship when you manifest the word of God, and your faith is manifest through obedience. When things get complicated and you get tested, you don’t opt-out; you exercise your faith. The Lord wants you to obey. Soldiers don’t leave their post; they obey their commanding officers. We’ve been made righteous because Jesus was obedient. In The New Testament, there are commandments, and there’s obedience to those commandments. It goes beyond the ten commandments or the six hundred and thirteen commandments of The Old Testament. The Lord emphasizes that the commandments are not burdensome or overwhelming for us to follow (see 1 John 5:3).
John 14:15 NLT: “If you love me, obey my commandments.”
o How has obeying the commands of God affected your life?
o How has disobedience caused you to move towards obedience?
YOUR FAITH COMES ALIVE WITH OBEDIENCE
Abraham was told to leave his hometown and country. He wasn't told where he was to go. He was told that when you get there, I'll tell you. In Hebrews, it talks about these men and women of God who weren't attached to this world. They were looking for a city whose builder and maker was God, and they saw Him, who was invisible.
They were so convinced of how real God is and where their true home was that they were obedient. These men and women were convinced of God and His existence because they heard His voice and were obedient. They lived off of blind faith.
They were able to obey when the circumstances were contrary. Noah built an ark on dry land, and it had not rained. He was mocked for a long time when he was building the boat. The boat was 450 feet long, not exactly something you could hide, so His faith was an obedient act. Then the water came up from the earth, and the boat floated, and Noah became a hero.
DISOBEDIENCE AND OBEDIENCE
The book of Hebrews references how the children of Israel in Deuteronomy 28 wandered in the desert, and they fell into disobedience. The writer of Hebrews refers to disobedience as unbelief. When we are obedient, we have access to the blessings and promises of God. The author states how we are to not be like the children of Israel because it was through their unbelief that they did not enter the promised land. Because of their unbelief, they missed out on the blessings they were to receive. Jesus said, “if you’re really my friend, you’re going to obey what I command.” Obeying God is having faith in Him. You can see how the Old Testament principles of obedience still apply in The New Testament.

PRAYER:
Father, I thank you for all my friends all over the world. I thank you, Holy Spirit, that right now you're ministering, you’re upgrading, you're causing confidence in your word. Father, you're causing confidence in your promises. You're causing confidence, Father, that you have everything in your hand concerning us and that we dedicate our lives to you, and we love you, so we obey you. We thank you, Father. We love you because we obey you. We have faith because we have obedience. We are confident, Father, you're well able to do that which we've committed under you until that day. We know that you can put us over in this life.
We thank you for the spirit of victory right now. We thank you for helping us, Lord, to manifest our faith through our love and our obedience for you in Jesus' name. Thank you for healing all those who are sick in our churches all over the world. Thank you, Lord, for delivering every single person. We command every evil spirit in the name of Jesus to go. And leave go of God's people right now by the blood and the name of Jesus. Amen.
